Another happy customer

We love feedback here at Silk Concept, especially from happy customers! Meet Sue, she purchased a Silk Concept duvet while she was in town for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic games. Being our first customer from the land down under, we were excited to hear how she got on with her new 'doona.'

"The Superior Silk Concept duvet is everything you described - and more. I am very happy with it - even on hot, humid summer nights when we usually throw the duvet off - something that's no longer necessary. I am starting my own quest to tell friends how they, too, can enjoy comfortable, luxurious sleep with one of your duvets." Sue, Sydney, Australia

Thank you Sue, enjoy your sleep and good luck on your quest !

Golden Dreams - Dogs love our duvets!

We often hear 'I would love a silk filled duvet, but my dog sleeps on my bed'. Meet Betsy and Archie, happy sleepers under and on top of a Silk Concept duvet. What most people don't know is that the silk inside Silk Concept duvets is pound for pound stronger than steel. Mulberry silk is so strong that both you and your pooch can enjoy sleeping with silk. Better yet, unlike a down filled duvet, your Silk Concept duvet will not hold onto dead skin and odors that your pet likes to leave behind from time to time.

"When I first got my silk duvet from the fabulous team at Silk Concept, I was honestly a bit hesitant to even put it on my bed. The duvet is so beautiful, and I couldn't wait to sleep underneath it, but I wasn't so sure about Archie. He is my two-year old Golden Doodle, and in addition to loving to run at the park and swim in the ocean, he loves to sleep on the bed too!  So how was my gorgeous new, white silk duvet going to be able to hold up to him? Well, after a week or so of looking at the duvet sitting in the corner, I decided it was time to put it to the test. I started with having another blanket over top of it during the day, and then taking that off when I went to sleep, and what an incredible sleep it was! And of course, Archie absolutely loved it too! I no longer keep it covered up, as it is too beautiful to hide, and I often come home to find Archie sleeping soundly on the bed. Since the first night I curled up underneath my Silk Concept duvet almost two months ago, Archie and I have both been having "Golden Dreams".

Rules to follow when purchasing pillows

Unless you live full time in a Fairmont Hotel where you can take full advantage of their pillow menu then you need to know all the facts before you commit to a new pillow.

You should be changing your down filled pillows every year, I could write a whole other blog just dedicated to the lovely 'stuff' collected over 12 months. Instead I'm going to just chat it up about a few pillow-buying rules.

Rule no. 1: Size is everything.

When it comes to pillows, this is true. Make sure your pillow choice reflects the size of your bed. Queen for Queen and King for King etc.

Rule no. 2: Remember how you sleep.

Do you sleep on your back, side or stomach or a mixture. Believe it or not there are different pillows for each position. For example, if you sleep on your stomach it is important to have a pillow that will support your neck comfortably.

Rule no. 3: Price = quality.

Like with most bedding items, go cheap on pillows and expect cheap results. Investing in your bedroom environment is investing in your health. Instead of buying 4 new expensive pillows for visual appeal, buy just two for function.

Rule no. 4: Be filled in on the filling.

For me, this is the most important rule. Learn about all the fills out there, because there are many choices. If you suffer from allergies avoid down and feather filled pillows, even if they claim to be 'hypoallergenic'. Buckwheat pillows are relatively new on the market and are said to be 99% dust free. If you are a hot sleeper you need to pay close attention to the breath ability factor of the pillow fill, a memory foam pillow for example will hold onto heat and keep cooking all night long. Look at natural fills, it will come as no surprise that silk filled pillows are a perfect solution.
