Persuasive language and scientific terms work wonders upon impressionable consumers. Make believe facts and figures are responsible for many purchases and even more 'I can't believe how much I just spent on that and it doesn't work' moments.
Well, today I had the displeasure of explaining a marketing myth to a consumer. The conversation began with 'I've been looking for hypoallergenic sleeping products', and it ended with me explaining that Silk Concept are not hypoallergenic, they are actually naturally non-allergenic.
If you think hypoallergenic will help your battle against allergens, think again. First used in a cosmetic campaign in 1953, the term hypoallergenic has been tricking people in to thinking that their allergies will be irritated less or not at all for many years now. Dust mites will still live inside hypoallergenic down duvets, and it is the dust mite excretion that will irritate allergies. The raw Mulberry silk inside a Silk Concept duvet is inhospitable to dust mites. No dust mites = no dust mite excretion = an non-allergenic sleeping experience.

So if you have been thinking that hypoallergenic is going to help you with your battle with allergens, then think again. Look for products with non allergenic stamps, or better yet, naturally non-allergenic.

"You were right, I've finally found a cure for my cold feet/hot bod: my Silk Concept duvet! I'm one of those people who LOVES her bed...the king size, the linen, the sanctuary, and now my silk duvet makes me want to move my office into my bed. I think I'll write my next book wrapped in my Silk Concept baby. Thanks so much. (Oh, I want to order two more for wedding gifts...)" - Danielle LaPorte, creator of whitehottruth.com
Here at Silk Concept, we love feedback. So from time to time, we feel like we should spread the love.
The natural companion for your silk filled duvet is a silk duvet cover. If you are looking for new bedding, spoil yourself with the stunning RAJBOORI collection. Not only will you smile every time you see the gorgeous color palette divided by contemporary geometric shapes, you will also be happy to know your silk bedding is a renewable and biodegradable material.
My favorite is the Rangoli range "The accent pillows are finished with a gold and aqua silk fringe with over-sized tassels. To add sensuality, all items are backed with luxurious silk in fuchsia." Such fine attention to detail makes Rajboori stand out from the silk bedding crowd. Check out the Rajboori Blog to learn more about the fabric production.
To find your perfect eco-friendly bedding visit Rajboori.com and if you are in Paris, visit the Rajboori Stand D11 at Maison&Objet Sept 4th-8th 2009.
The Wedding season is upon us. What is meant to be the happiest day of the couples lives is often a nightmare for their family and guests !! Unless you are in the immediate wedding party, you will have to choose a suitable wedding outfit, one that is comfy enough to have seconds at the meal, and of course free of restrictions to cut shapes on the dance floor. To add to the stress of what to wear, there is the task of buying a wedding gift. Traditionally we have gifted the lucky couple home items that will come in handy when they move into their love nest. But this is 2009 where most couples have already been living together and have a toaster, a kettle, and a set of towels. So what do you get them? Well how about something healthy, unique, and luxurious. Without breaking the bank, you can make sure the newlyweds are sleeping blissfully with a silk filled duvet.
For the Bride/Groom who want quality sleep, we recommend the Deluxe Duvet. Long nights are ahead of them, so make sure they are getting the shut eye they will need!
For the Bride/Groom who has everything, we recommend the Superior Duvet. Shock them in a good way with the most luxurious duvet available.
Got a 10th Wedding Anniversary coming up? Did you know Silk is traditionally gifted to the married couple.
